I spent the last few weeks staying with families in the Tibetan refugee camps around Pokhara. At two of the camps, most of the residents are the families of Khampas - bellicose men from eastern Tibet who made up a large percentage of the guerilla warriors that fought the PLA in the 50's and 60's. Their grandkids, unsurprisingly, are quite taken with guns.

I just got back from Mustang and the trip was awesome, though extremely grueling. I took a total of 7 buses, 1 flight, 3.5 days hiking, and one 8-hour, pre-dawn tractor ride in the freezing cold to get to Lo Monthang and back. Because of the electricity shortage in Nepal, the government schedules certain hours each day that are effective blackouts. Right now it's around 2 hours/day but this winter, apparently the number goes up to 16 ... stoked.
